Meal Preparation

Home-cooked meals planned around your tastes, your dietary needs, and your kitchen — so eating well stops being a daily hurdle.

What is meal preparation?

Good Food, Made the Way You Like It

Meal preparation covers everything around eating well at home — planning the week's menu, shopping for groceries, cooking, portioning, and cleaning up afterwards. Our caregivers work in your kitchen, using your recipes and preferences, so meals taste familiar rather than institutional.

Cooking is often the first thing to go when energy, mobility, or memory becomes an issue, and skipped meals have a way of quietly undermining everything else. Having someone handle it means proper food on the table without the shopping trip, the standing, or the washing up.

  • Cooked fresh in your kitchen
  • Batch prep & freezer meals
  • Grocery shopping included
  • Your recipes, your preferences

What's included

From Shopping List to Clean Kitchen

Meal support can be as light or as complete as you need — pick the parts that help most and leave the rest.

Weekly Meal Planning

Sitting down together to plan the week's menu around what you actually enjoy eating, plus any guidance from your doctor or dietitian.

Grocery Shopping

Shopping from your list and budget, checking the cupboards first, and putting everything away — or ordering online if you'd rather.

Cooking Fresh Meals

Breakfast, lunch, dinner, or all three — cooked from scratch in your kitchen, using family recipes where you have them.

Batch Cooking & Portioning

Preparing several meals at once, portioned and labelled for the fridge or freezer, so there's always something ready to heat up.

Serving & Mealtime Company

Meals served at the table and eaten together rather than alone — which often does more for appetite than anything on the plate.

Kitchen Clean-Up

Dishes done, surfaces wiped, leftovers stored, and expired items cleared from the fridge so the kitchen stays safe and usable.

Dietary needs

Meals That Work With Your Requirements

Tell us what needs avoiding, and we'll build the menu around it — including any plan set out by a doctor or registered dietitian.

Doctor-Guided Plans

We follow the dietary plan your healthcare team has set — low-sodium, diabetic-friendly, heart-healthy, or otherwise.

Allergies & Intolerances

Careful label reading and separate preparation to keep allergens and problem ingredients out of the meal entirely.

Texture-Modified Meals

Softer, minced, or puréed textures prepared to the consistency recommended for someone with chewing or swallowing difficulty.

Cultural & Religious Diets

Halal, kosher, vegetarian, vegan, or the dishes of home — cooked the way they're meant to be, with the right ingredients.

Our caregivers prepare meals to plan but don't provide clinical nutrition advice. Where a specific diet is needed, we'll follow the guidance of your doctor or registered dietitian.

Who it's for

Signs Meal Support Might Help

  • Meals are being skipped, or replaced by toast, cereal, and snacks
  • Expired food is building up in the fridge or cupboards
  • Standing at the stove or carrying groceries has become difficult
  • There's been noticeable weight loss, or clothes fitting differently
  • A new dietary plan has been recommended and it's hard to follow alone
  • Using the stove or oven safely has become a worry for the family

Concerned about weight loss or appetite? Speak with a doctor as well — sudden changes can have medical causes worth checking. We're glad to work alongside whatever plan they recommend.

How it works

Getting Started Is Simple

From first call to first meal, most families are set up within a few days.

1

Free Consultation

Call or send a message. We'll listen to the situation and answer your questions — no pressure, no sales script.

2

Tastes & Requirements

We visit to go through favourite dishes, dislikes, allergies, any prescribed diet, and how the kitchen is set up.

3

Menu & Schedule

We agree a rotating menu, shopping arrangement, and visit times that fit around the rest of the day.

4

Cook & Adjust

Meals begin, and we keep asking what's working. Menus get tweaked as tastes, seasons, and appetite change.

Questions

Meal Preparation FAQs

Groceries are paid for by the client and are separate from the cost of care. We'll agree a simple arrangement at the start — usually a set budget with receipts kept for every shop — so everything stays transparent and easy for family to review.

Yes. Bring us the plan and we'll cook to it. Our caregivers aren't dietitians and don't give clinical nutrition advice, but they're experienced at preparing meals that meet requirements like low-sodium, diabetic-friendly, or modified-texture diets set out by your healthcare team.

Everything is cooked fresh in your own kitchen, with your equipment and preferences. Nothing is prepared off-site. If it suits better, a caregiver can batch-cook several meals during one visit and portion them for the fridge or freezer.

That's encouraged. Plenty of clients still want to direct the recipe, chop vegetables at the table, or supervise from a chair — the caregiver takes on whatever has become difficult and leaves the rest. Staying involved in a familiar routine matters, and we build the visit around that.

Very often, yes. A single visit might cover cooking, a bit of light housekeeping, and some companionship over the meal itself. Combining services usually makes better use of the hours, and it means the same familiar caregiver is handling everything.
